I’m so Done with Etiquetes

freaking etiquetes dude (2)

Greetings peeps!

I hope you’re having a great day!! So for some weeks I’ve been wanting to make this post, but I couldn’t because it was blogmas and I didn’t want to make an angry post or something lol

Maybe the fact that this post is a society criticism rant and that the featured image is a bit too colorful are probably not the best match, but whatever.

So you know? As my generation has grown up and over the past year or two years or something, people have always been like: I’m a science type of person, I’m a literature type of person…

End of the effing story

That’s something that really bugs me, cause why do you have to be one or another? Dude, my higher school branch is called social science, but that doesn’t mean I’m not into natural sciences nor I have no f*cking idea about them, that doesn’t mean I don’t like languages either, I like reading, I learnt english on my own pretty much…

I used to be really into biology class, I was one of the best in the class, and the best one in my english class. I’m not saying this to brag, I’m just saying it because they’re supposedly opposite things and I’m really into both and sh*t….

I like english, I like history, I like biology, I like anatomy, I’d like to learn latin and greek, I like economy… There’s so many things I’d like to be studying that I’m not. Of course I can do that on my own, that’s no big deal.

What bothers me is people calling you names you don’t even identify yourself as, you know? I mean, I think I know myself better than the rest of the people do, right? At least in that sense.

Also, I did a post not a long time ago about people taking concepts too far (link here) in which I talked about how just because you’re mexican is not a race, there are more than one race in there. And just because someone wants to ask you something about your culture, unless they do it in an offensive way, is not effing racism.

And for some reason lately in my groups of friends, they’re pretty often talking about random people like: “yeah, cause she’s straight” or “yeah cause she’s white” or “yeah cause I’m short” or “yeah, cause we’re weird people”

“She’s so white” What the f*ck does that mean? Is that an insult or something?

I mean, does being for instance straight define me? As well as being gay defines someone? No! Does being a nerd define you? Does being fat/slim define you? Does being black/indian/whatever define you? Does being a woman define you?

You know what? I think what defines me is that I learn things on my own because I have a passion for things. I’m responsible and hard-working. I’m just as smart as anyone else. I used to write little raps some years ago. I’m shy and sometimes awkward. I talk alone a lot and I think it’s fun. I like music, reading, blogging, fashion, makeup…

I think what really defines you is what you do and what you’re able to do, not things that have nothing to do with your will, like being born wherever or being whatever race or having whatever eye or hair color, sexual preference, religion… What the fuck is wrong with any of those things? Should they matter? Really?

I respect people etiqueting themselves, as long as they don’t etiquete me, they can do whatever they want with their etiquettes.

If people keep going like:

  • I can’t do this because I’m stupid
  • I can’t be cool cause I’m a nerd
  • I’m fat, I’ll never be able to lose weight
  • I’ll never do this because I’m short
  • No one will love me cause I’m ugly
  • I’m not pretty cause I don’t have blue eyes
  • I can’t dance cause I’m white
  • I’m know I’m weird, I’ll always be, I accepted it
  • Yeah, because I’m gay
  • I’ll never be ale to do that cause I’m a girl

If people keep saying those things and impeding themselves to do things just because of those stupid things, they’re never gonna be happy not achieve their goals.

Final word:

  • Don’t be an @$$hole and stop etiqueting people, it’s okay if you do it to yourself, it’s your own consequence.
  • You’re never gonna be happy if you define yourself for things that you never chose nor did
  • People can’t define you, let alone for those things
  • We’re all the freaking same and we all are just as capable and intelligent, it’s just some people take more advantage of it and other people get happy with less.

I’m sorry if my thoughts were all over the place and if I maybe didn’t explain some things really well, I had so many thoughts in my head that I wanted to convey… Anyway, I hope this helped you or made you relate. Let’s be happy!!!

Share your thoughts with me!

Do you agree with any of this? What do you think defines you? Do people call you things you wouldn’t like them to call you? Are people like this where you live? What are your thoughts on this? Tell meeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I hope you liked this post as much as I liked making it!!! I’ll be back tomorrow with a haul post, I can’t wait!!! I hope you all have an amazing day/night and an amazing week!!!!!!

Massive hugs!

  1. I am 38 and don’t have people like this in my life and didn’t surround myself with people like this when I was younger. I don’t speak like this. I also don’t believe that there is anything that I can’t do as a result of me being loud, average looking, not-skinny, divorced, re-married, stepmother…or any of the rest of things that people could label me as 😉

    • Omg you’re so lucky you don’t have people like that in your life, it makes you mentally tired, even if you don’t really care, I guess it’s human nature.
I mean, do sny of those things matter? Just cause you’re divroced doesn’t mean you’re a bad person, or dumb, or incapable, it just mean something didn’t work out, it has nothing to do with who you really are. 🙂
Thanks so much for your comment! ❤

P.S. I'm so so so sorry for the late reply 😦

  2. We don’t need these. I’ve been called smart and a nerd all my school life and the amount of pressure I feel from that… you actually wouldn’t believe it. I was bullied a few years ago – for many reasons, but one of which that I was a ‘nerd’. When I found new friends, I specifically asked them not to call me ‘smart’ or any other term. One of them still kind of does but he doesn’t have much tact so I forgive him. I hate being called smart but it’s a label I can’t shake – so I’m stuck. Thank you for writing this post Ana, more people need to hear this. 💜

    • Yeah omg right? You have this feeling of not letting peole down because they expect something from you and no one’s invincible, we can all make mistakes sometimes or have hard times, right? What does anyone care what we do or stop doing?
We should focus more on helping people when we can and not critizice them when we don’t really know the background of things.

Thank YOU so much for reading and commenting, I really liked this comment!! And awwww thank you 😀 ❤ ❤

  3. I was always identified as the Welsh one at my school, was referred to as an illegal immigrant at one point. I think that was kinda because they weren’t educated properly because I later found out that a lot of people I spoke to in my year didn’t know that Wales was a separate country and that it was apart of the UK. Of course I identify as Welsh, but that doesn’t mean to say that is what I want to be known for. I think it’s mad that everyone feels the need to label someone in order to recognise them or something. Why do we have to categorised? I totally agree with you, Ana :)x

    • Omg that must be hell. You know what? Actually about a year ago or something, my friends that had known me all my life and considered me just like the rest, now start differentiating whether you’re 100% Spanish (casue I live in Spain) or the fact that I was born in Mexico and blah blah, I mean, does that matter? And it’s not even looks, cause I look just like them, you know?
People are crazy, they lost it.
Why do people label like that? Is it cause they’re jealous and wanna have 2 nationalities too? What is it?
Thank you so much for your comment!!!! 😀
