Height, Sexism and Hypocrisy

Height, Sexism and Hipocresy

Greetings peeps!

I hope you’re doing good! I am! So today I decided to do another social criticism post, because why not? What’s more fun than complaining about society, right? Let’s do it!

So obvs because I got this idea from something that happened I believe in winter, I have to tell you the story.

Storytime with Ana Regina:

So I was on a trip me and my friends organized and there were 2 girls or something walking near us and one of my friends was like: Dude, I wanna be tall like that.

And then another of my friends was like: You’d be taller than most boys. You want a boyfriend shorter than you? And then someone else said it didn’t matter. And then I said I preferred my boyfriend to be taller than me.

And then another friend was like: That’s sexist. And I was like: Why? And she was like: You can’t say it, it sounds rude – or something, I don’t remember exactly what she said to me.

THE END

And that’s the end of this blog post, just kidding! 😂

So I was like; the eff? Since when is it sexist that I want ma man to be taller than me? I’m not saying he’s better than me, I’m just saying he’s taller.

It has nothing to do with sexism, it’s just a thing of preference. Appearence preference. I mean, I know aesthetics have always been sexist with things like skirts, high heels, makeup, shaving and all of that along the years. But we live in a society now in which supposedly you should like whatever you want and there’s nothing wrong with it.

I like tall boys. Someone else will like them short. Someone else likes girls. Someone else likes red haired girls. Just cause someone likes red haired people romantically, it doesn’t mean they’re being racist. They don’t think they’re superior, that’s just the type of person they like.

I won’t be offended, unless the person who says it is the guy I like, cause I’m not red haired, right? 😂

There’s a video of an interview with Cardi B in which she talked about this, I think it’s really good. Cause at first I thought that if you don’t like all races, then you’re racist, but she explains how it isn’t, which made me feel better.

Hope ya liked it. I totally agree on what she said that just because you have a preference, doesn’t mean the other type is bad or ugly, you know? It’s subjective, everybody has their preferences.

And back to the sotry real quick: Really? Are you telling me that it’s sexist to like someone taller than you? I’m prettu sure she likes them tall too. I don’t think she’d be attracted to someone shorter.

I think she said it to sound politically correct, which isn’t the case. You’re messing up one thing with the other.

Also, if I don’t feel romantically attarcted to girls them I’m a homophobe? Because I don’t like gay guys I’m a homophobe? I love girls but I never felt attracted to any in that way, and I can’t feel attracted to a gay guy cause they won’t like me back 😅😅

Conclusion:

  1. Having a preference doesn’t mean you’re racist, sexist or anything.
  2. Be educated on sh*t before naming things, this is really good for debates.
  3. Like whatever you like, you’re not a worse person. Just don’t disrespect people for that reason. Or any reason.

Massive hugs!

  1. I don’t think it’s sexism per se, but it does have to do with how society has conditioned girls to think the men they need in their lives have to be tall and strong and protective, and that a man of equal or lesser height can’t be that for you. Height is one of the few things about a person that can’t be changed, so it’s unfair to really base someone’s worth on that. Of course it is valid to have preferences and be attracted to certain things, but people also need to take a step back and perhaps ask, ‘why do I like this?’ and maybe it’s just a casual preference (like curly hair vs straight hair) but maybe it’s something that is a preference based on how society/the media has made us believe we should only want (like women having curves, men having abs). It’s complicated and there aren’t really right answers, but it’s just something to think about.

    • Yeah, it’s like society forces men to be strong and protective and it makes girls want or need to be protected by someone else. I’m not 100% against that, we all need support at some point, but society makes height seem like it’s related to that.
And yeah, I’ve always said that people should be defined for what they are and what they do or say, not things you’re born with like skin color, height, country…
And yeah, preferences are too influenced by society, I wonder what things we’d like if society didn’t affect us in that way.
I loved your comment!!!! Thanks for reading!!!!!:D ❤
